I'm starting to integrate some fairly simple ajax into my work these days, mostly within backend cms rather than front ends at present. Stuff like related selects and postcode lookups etc. i've not done anything gui related or public facing just yet.
I've been trying to work out how search engines crawl ajax sites in terms of seo. I'm assuming they aren't great at intepreting / following js so can't crawl all the links / possible routes of navigation. Does anyone know if i'm right / wrong? :?:

You're right. Google completely ignores js.

Cheers, AJAX seems to be quite the "boom" lately. My advice is only use it to where it's necessary - and especially convenient. Personally I've been developing in ColdFusion, javascript, XML etc for quite a long time. Focus on your goals of what you're trying to do with your website. If you do not think you need AJAX - then you probably don't. AJAX is great from a CMS or "backend" standpoint as it can tremendously improve user convenience. So all in all - I wasn't very helpful! But I've seen too many people using AJAX to the point where it almost makes no sense. As I stated - focus on your "goals" for your website, and if it makes sense then use it! -Dp
